I’ve always been drawn to experimenting with themes of mental health, and this piece explores the quiet pain that hides behind a cheerful mask. Some of us grew up “on our own,” without the emotional support we needed to navigate certain struggles. From that place is born the belief that we must handle everything alone — that we should be strong enough to face any difficulty without asking for help. To others, this can look almost prideful, but in reality it’s a kind of silent sentence we carry.

For people like us, asking for help feels almost impossible. We tend to sink into our own solitary decisions, even when they weigh too heavily. What we are truly skilled at, however, is hiding our inner state. With a simple smile we say we’re fine, but anyone sensitive enough to look beyond the surface can see the exhaustion behind our eyes.

In this drawing, the blurred textures and chaotic strokes around the figure echo the turmoil inside — a storm of unresolved feelings, unspoken fears, and thoughts that never find a voice. The dark, wide eyes reveal a depth of vulnerability, while the soft colors hint at the fragile hope still trying to survive beneath it all. It is a portrait of someone suspended between collapse and resilience, someone who desperately wants to be understood without having to speak.

The work allows the observer to interpret what he sees.
